New Jersey Continentals

When we think of Continental infantry, this unit is probably what comes to mind. 

Dark Blue coats with Buff facings (cuffs, collars, and lapels), buff vests and trousers.

The regulations for the new Continental uniforms of October 1779 specified Buff facings for the Continental regiments raised in New York and New Jersey. 

The population of New Jersey was relatively small at the time of the Revolution, and thus their quota was set at only 4 Regiments (Battalions, really). 

Continental regiments raised in New York and New Jersey were to have buff facings. In reality, they pretty much wore whatever uniforms they could get a hold of, but I am going to depict them more or less as per the regulations.

We tried to hide it, but we couldn’t: we were too happy. In March 2014 two wargamers, one with a beard, one bald, (none of them was female) organized an Open Wargame Day in Amsterdam that was the start of the now famous 70-member club the Amsterdam6shooters. Here’s an impression of our FIRST club meeting ever, in 2014:

We expected just a few, the happy few, a band of brothers. One modest game day per month. We were too modest.

In March, in the same club building, we had a great day again. We have weekly club days on Saturday or Sunday, and often an extra Thursday. We’re a proud mixed group of happy social wargamers who play historical wargames and 40K. No WAAC-players. Lot of club terrain. Great bar inside. We visit conventions and give demonstrations. Most important: WE HAVE FUN. Every time.

Alle leeftijden welkom! Vanaf 10 jaar kun je meespelen in deze grandioze veldslag. Alleen komen kijken en genieten van de sfeer? Dat mag natuurlijk ook! uik dieper dan ooit in de geschiedenis en ervaar het verleden op een unieke en interactieve manier, enkel en alleen in het Vestingmuseum.
